Date: November 17, 2021
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Topic: Become the Everyday Ethicist
Speaker: Amanda Jo Erven, CPA, CIA, CFE | Internal Audit Strategist, Management Consultant, Trainer, Keynote Speaker and Author
Description:
We are not as ethical as we think we are. All evidence points to the fact that society is not getting any better ethically. The number and variety of recent scandals proves out culture has changed in the last half-century to one with greater emphasis on self: “The Big Me.”
Most people desire to become more ethical, but the first step in changing any behaviours is self-awareness and greater understanding of the problem. In this session, we will explore the role of “The Ethical Rationalizer” and why we tend to consciously or unconsciously rationalize away our unethical behaviour. Then we will shift our focus to “The Everyday Ethicist™” and learn how to adopt values and behaviours that will improve our society’s ethical culture, one person at a time.
Learning Objective #1: “The Assessment”
Learning Objective #2: “The Big Me”
